Ski-driving is the traditional form of skijoring and requires special equipment for the horse and skier.

This method can be experienced at either moderate speeds as a recreational activity at home at a ranch or farm or while visiting an equestrian center or resort. Ski-driving, or “skijoering” in French, is also undertaken at higher speeds on race courses or tracks as featured at the White Turf event in Saint Moritz, Switzerland since 1907.
