This photo shows the lookout structure at the summit of Martis peak. It is open in the winter and is a decent warming hut. In deep snow, the window on the lee side is purposely left unlocked for skiers and snowshoers. The lookout offers fabulous veiws of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding country.
